Quite simply the best B&B we have stayed in on our extensive travels. This has it all - hospitality, warmth, luxury and a location second to none. Our only problem was that we'd only booked one night. We felt truly looked after and thoroughly relaxed. Beautifully and freshly cooked to order by John, with Fiona lavishing non stop caffeine, pastries and more in the dining room. Elegant yet homely quality without ostentation and utterly, completely relaxing. From the superb mattress and bed linen to the toiletries, home made cookies and tasteful furnishings - it's all spot on. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and with breath taking, full height views. Their passion, care and commitment to their guests' comfort and enjoyment is unsurpassed you feel like you are friends from the start and the owners' warm smiles, welcome, tea and cakes embrace you into a marvellously accommodating hug. This should be the blueprint for all B&Bs, and Fiona and John are the perfect hosts. More Show lessĪ sheer delight from start to finish. Plus, our hosts were simply the nicest people you could hope for. My wife likes the poached eggs, I went for scrambled. (and I can really eat!) Home made breads, croissant, serials, yoghurt's, fresh fruits, jam, marmalade, all the fry-up stuff and much more. Breakfast - I go for the full Scottish Breakfast and I'm not kidding, I couldn't eat again until dinner time in the evening. John and Fiona have really made the effort to tick all the boxes. We went to sleep with the curtains open and in the morning, we opened our eyes to one of the finest views you could hope for - across the water to the Dunvegan peninsula. We arrived in the dark and so hadn't seen the view. Two super comfy easy chairs and coffee table by the huge window. Great bed, beautifully appointed en-suite, silent fridge, biscuits tea, coffee, hair dryer, ample wardrobe, drawers, etc etc. Our room, which was the upper room, was simply the best room - and I include high faluting hotels - that we have ever lived in. The common areas, dining room, lounge are lovely and comfortable. Very modern and clean inside but very homely too. The house is beautiful, oozing character outside and in. We were made to feel at home and completely relaxed. When you go to a B & B you have no idea what the land-lords will be like but this was like visiting old friends. We phoned and John and Fiona were immediately out with the torch - no street lights in the country - to guide us safely in. The Cottage Stein, has ample parking to the front and we arrived in the dark and drove past the driveway. Where to start? The little hamlet of Stein is off the main drag but is just such a great location for lovely views, peace and quiet, country pub, relaxation. Which is a shame for all others because what a high benchmark the Cottage Stein has set. From this day on, I will compare all others to this. This B & B has kicked the ball out of the park. The little hamlet of Stein is off the main drag but is just such a great location for lovely views, peace and quiet, country pub, relaxation.
